Zul Abdul

Chairman

Mr. Abdul joined the Board in 2014 and appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Board in 2020. At JHL, he has chaired the Board Nominating and HR Committee and the Board Audit and Compliance Committee. He is the current chairman of the Life and Health insurance subsidiaries in Kenya and he has also served on the Boards of the Health insurance subsidiaries in Uganda and Tanzania. He is the Chairman of the Jubilee Allianz general insurance companies in Mauritus and Burundi. Mr. Abdul is a seasoned businessman and has served in voluntary leadership positions in various organisations.

John Metcalf

Mr. Metcalf was appointed to the Board in 2006. He has extensive international experience in the insurance industry and is currently the Head of Insurance for the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED). He is a Director on the Boards of the Company’s insurance subsidiaries. Before joining the Company, he was the Executive Chairman of the Allianz Group Insurance subsidiaries in Egypt. Mr. Metcalf is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a BA (Hons) in Banking Insurance & Finance from Sheffield Hallam University. Mr. Metcalf is a member of the Board Finance Committee, Board Audit & Compliance Committee, Board Nominating & HR committee and Board IT Committee.

Nancy Muthoni

Nancy has over 20 years’ experience as a strategic advisor responsible for structuring, negotiation and execution of deals for landmark projects across the region. She is an able collaborator with an extensive network across various industries. She has been involved in ground-breaking initiatives as well as landmark projects and is the Founder, Executive Producer and Host of The Property Show with Nancy – an award winning premier weekly real estate television show certainly a first of its kind in the Kenyan market. She is also the CEO of First Avenue – Your Property Partner, a boutique real estate firm offering bespoke services in the sector.

Ali Rawji

Mr. Sherali Rawji is a seasoned finance executive with extensive experience in insurance, corporate finance, and international financial management. He has held senior leadership roles at Jubilee Holdings, including Group Chief Finance Officer and later Group Chief Operations Officer, where he led major strategic initiatives, including the $100 million partnership with Allianz and the successful reorganization of Kenya’s medical insurance business. He was instrumental in driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and financial stability across the Group’s regional operations.

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Mr. Rawji holds a degree in Economics and Business Finance from the London School of Economics. He currently serves on multiple boards, including Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda, Jubilee General Insurance Kenya, and Vivo Fashion Group, where he chairs several Audit Committees. Now a semi-retired finance consultant, he continues to contribute to the financial sector through board roles and regulatory advisory engagements.

Evelyne Muriuki

Director

Evelyne Muriuki is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from the United States International University – Africa (USIU-A). She has also completed professional courses in Corporate Governance, Strategic Management, and Leadership in Health Systems Strengthening. Evelyne is a Director at the Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU), where she serves as an independent non-executive board member. She is also a member of the Finance and Strategy Committee of the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), having previously served as treasurer and chair.

Evelyne brings extensive leadership experience in corporate governance and finance. As Regional Director at Porticus Africa Limited, she established the Africa Regional Office and led the implementation of organizational policies, staffing, and strategic direction. She has provided financial and operational oversight to international NGOs managing annual budgets of KES 300 million to 1.5 billion. Evelyne has also played a key role in the implementation and operationalization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, enhancing efficiency and accountability across the organizations she has served.

Carole Kariuki

Carole Kariuki is a visionary leader with over 15 years’ experience in Private Sector management and leadership working with an intermediate organization that partners with Government, Development Partners among other stakeholders. She is currently the CEO at Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Carole holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from University of Nairobi.

Ms. Rose Mwaura is an experienced accountant with over 20 years’ experience in both public and private sector. She is currently an Advisory Partner with Deloitte East Africa and is the Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). She has previously served as an audit and assurance partner at Deloitte East Africa, USA and India. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting option) from University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA{K}).

Ashif Kassam

Mr. Kassam was appointed to the Board on 28th March 2019 and a member of the Board Audit & Compliance Committee. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA). He is a practising Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK. He is also a Member of the National Board of Accountants & Auditors, Tanzania. She serves on the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) Board, the General Insurance Council, and the Strategy & Legal Affairs Committee. He was the Corporate Finance Manager at Pearl Marina Estates, a 385-acre mixed-use real estate development in Uganda, in charge of institutional investor engagements, project finance management and business development.
