Zul Abdul

Chairman

Mr. Abdul joined the Board in 2014 and appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Board in 2020. At JHL, he has chaired the Board Nominating and HR Committee and the Board Audit and Compliance Committee. He is the current chairman of the Life and Health insurance subsidiaries in Kenya and he has also served on the Boards of the Health insurance subsidiaries in Uganda and Tanzania. He is the Chairman of the Jubilee Allianz general insurance companies in Mauritus and Burundi. Mr. Abdul is a seasoned businessman and has served in voluntary leadership positions in various organisations.

John Metcalf

Director

Mr. Metcalf was appointed to the Board in 2006. He has extensive international experience in the insurance industry and is currently the Head of Insurance for the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED). He is a Director on the Boards of the Company’s insurance subsidiaries. Before joining the Company, he was the Executive Chairman of the Allianz Group Insurance subsidiaries in Egypt. Mr. Metcalf is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a BA (Hons) in Banking Insurance & Finance from Sheffield Hallam University. Mr. Metcalf is a member of the Board Finance Committee, Board Audit & Compliance Committee, Board Nominating & HR committee and Board IT Committee.

Nancy Muthoni

Nancy has over 20 years’ experience as a strategic advisor responsible for structuring, negotiation and execution of deals for landmark projects across the region. She is an able collaborator with an extensive network across various industries. She has been involved in ground-breaking initiatives as well as landmark projects and is the Founder, Executive Producer and Host of The Property Show with Nancy – an award winning premier weekly real estate television show certainly a first of its kind in the Kenyan market. She is also the CEO of First Avenue – Your Property Partner, a boutique real estate firm offering bespoke services in the sector.

Ali Rawji

Mr. Sherali Rawji is a seasoned finance executive with extensive experience in insurance, corporate finance, and international financial management. He has held senior leadership roles at Jubilee Holdings, including Group Chief Finance Officer and later Group Chief Operations Officer, where he led major strategic initiatives, including the $100 million partnership with Allianz and the successful reorganization of Kenya’s medical insurance business. He was instrumental in driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and financial stability across the Group’s regional operations.

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Mr. Rawji holds a degree in Economics and Business Finance from the London School of Economics. He currently serves on multiple boards, including Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda, Jubilee General Insurance Kenya, and Vivo Fashion Group, where he chairs several Audit Committees. Now a semi-retired finance consultant, he continues to contribute to the financial sector through board roles and regulatory advisory engagements.

Evelyne Muriuki

Director

Evelyne Muriuki is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from the United States International University – Africa (USIU-A). She has also completed professional courses in Corporate Governance, Strategic Management, and Leadership in Health Systems Strengthening. Evelyne is a Director at the Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU), where she serves as an independent non-executive board member. She is also a member of the Finance and Strategy Committee of the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK), having previously served as treasurer and chair.

Evelyne brings extensive leadership experience in corporate governance and finance. As Regional Director at Porticus Africa Limited, she established the Africa Regional Office and led the implementation of organizational policies, staffing, and strategic direction. She has provided financial and operational oversight to international NGOs managing annual budgets of KES 300 million to 1.5 billion. Evelyne has also played a key role in the implementation and operationalization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, enhancing efficiency and accountability across the organizations she has served.

Carole Kariuki

Carole Kariuki is a visionary leader with over 15 years’ experience in Private Sector management and leadership working with an intermediate organization that partners with Government, Development Partners among other stakeholders. She is currently the CEO at Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Carole holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from University of Nairobi.

Ms. Rose Mwaura is an experienced accountant with over 20 years’ experience in both public and private sector. She is currently an Advisory Partner with Deloitte East Africa and is the Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). She has previously served as an audit and assurance partner at Deloitte East Africa, USA and India. Ashif Kassam

Mr. Kassam was appointed to the Board on 28th March 2019 and a member of the Board Audit & Compliance Committee. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA). He is a practising Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK. He is also a Member of the National Board of Accountants & Auditors, Tanzania. He is a recipient of the Order of the Grand Warrior (O.G.W.) as well as ACCA Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to the development of the accountancy profession both locally and globally. Appointed in 2022, Njeri Jomo is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of Jubilee Health Insurance, bringing over 20 years of experience in insurance, strategy execution, and business transformation. She is a highly skilled leader in health financing, digital innovation, risk management, and distribution strategy, driving growth, operational excellence, and access to quality healthcare solutions.

She serves on the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) Board, the General Insurance Council, and the Strategy & Legal Affairs Committee. She is also a Board Member of Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda and Tanzania, contributing to finance, risk, and audit oversight as a member of the Board Finance & Investment Committee (BFIC), Board Audit Committee (BAC), and Board Risk & Compliance Committee (BRCC).

Eugine Mutekhele is a finance and strategy professional with over 15 years of experience across East Africa and the United Kingdom. As Chief Financial Officer at Jubilee Health Insurance, he oversees financial management, strategic planning, and business performance.
He previously held roles at PwC in Kenya, Rwanda, and the UK, gaining experience in financial reporting, risk, and advisory. Prior to joining Jubilee, he served as CFO at Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya, where he led various finance-related initiatives.

George Odera is an accomplished actuary with over a decade of experience in the financial services industry. His expertise spans digital product development, data analytics and modeling, risk-based regulation, and mobile money payments.

George has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital insurance in Kenya. During his tenure at Safaricom, he developed and executed the company’s insurance strategy, focusing on four key pillars: insurance payments, credit, digital insurance products, and the establishment of a digital insurance platform.

Among his key achievements, George pioneered the development of Kenya’s first fully digital, credit-risk-free Insurance Premium Financing (IPF) product. This mobile-based solution allows customers to access IPF on demand, significantly improving access to coverage and easing payment processes.

He also designed an innovative insurance product for mobile devices sold on credit, supporting access to smartphones and broadening financial inclusion. This solution covers a comprehensive range of risks including device loss or damage, credit life, and credit default—marking a first in the Kenyan retail market.

In addition, George developed a fully digital microinsurance product that enables users to purchase cover via M-PESA or loyalty points. The product is entirely paperless, with technology-driven processes covering underwriting, payments, claims verification, and reporting. By integrating a voucher system, it also addresses and mitigates fraud risks throughout the claims process.

George continues to be driven by the impact of digital insurance on everyday lives and is passionate about designing sustainable solutions that transform financial access across the continent.

During her tenure, Catherine has served as Head of Treasury for the Jubilee Kenya subsidiaries, where she was instrumental in optimizing liquidity management and strengthening financial controls across multiple entities. She also served as Chief Finance Officer of Jubilee Insurance Burundi under the Group’s mentorship program, gaining valuable cross-border leadership experience.

Since September 2018, Catherine has held the position of Chief Finance Officer at Jubilee Life Insurance Company Limited. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jubilee Asset Management Limited (JAML), overseeing in excess of KES. 195 Billion in Assets Under Management. Since joining JAML in December 2022, he has revitalized the business, positioning it as one of Kenya’s fastest-growing asset management companies.

Dominic’s career spans Senior Executive roles with diverse companies including: UAP Holdings Limited (renamed to Old Mutual Holdings Limited) as the Group Managing Director and CEO, and at Britam Asset Managers Limited as the Founder CEO & Managing Director. He has also worked for other Financial Services organizations based in the United Kingdom and South Africa, including SL Investment Management, a UK regulated Alternative Investments Fund Manager and with First Africa Capital Limited, a Pan-African Investment Bank that was later acquired by Standard Chartered Bank.

He was previously the Founder Chairman of the Association of Collective Investment Schemes in Kenya (ACIS) and was also Team Leader of an Industry Forum on the development of REITS regulations in the country.

He holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and a 1st Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science from City, University of London. He also holds a Certificate in Finance and Investments and a Diploma in Actuarial Techniques from the Institute of Actuaries, London, UK.

Outside of work, his interest includes reading, travelling, fitness, tennis, swimming, golf and spending quality time with his family.

Cliff Bakashaba

Senior Portfolio Manager

Cliff Bakashaba is the Senior Portfolio Manager at Jubilee Asset Management Limited (JAML). He has over ten years of experience in asset management, strategy development, corporate and project finance.
Prior to joining JAML, he worked for various subsidiaries of Centum Investment Company PLC. He was the Corporate Finance Manager at Pearl Marina Estates, a 385-acre mixed-use real estate development in Uganda, in charge of institutional investor engagements, project finance management and business development. He also worked for Nabo Capital Limited as a Senior Investment Associate where he implemented various investment strategies across equities and fixed income markets in Africa for a composite portfolio of USD 140 million.
Cliff is a CFA Charter holder and is currently pursuing an MBA at Strathmore Business School. He also holds a Bachelor of Science (First-Class Honours) in Actuarial Science from Makerere University Kampala and has completed a Certificate in Financial Mathematics from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK).

Christine joined Jubilee Asset Management from NCBA Group PLC, where she was instrumental in driving omnichannel campaigns and overseeing digital transitions during the NIC and CBA banks merger across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. She has previously worked at NIC Group PLC, RedHouse Group and Chase Bank Limited.

Prior to his current role, Peter played a pivotal part in driving the adoption of Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps practices at Cellulant. He was instrumental in building a progressive, high-performing engineering team by embedding automation, predictive monitoring, and software engineering into daily operations. His approach successfully bridged the gap between service operations and development, enabling a more resilient and agile production environment across the Cellulant ecosystem.

Key achievements include leading efforts to reduce Mean Time to Repair and Mean Time to Detection, while significantly lowering service desk ticket volumes, all contributing to a vastly improved customer experience. Peter also oversaw the automation and overhaul of enterprise support channels, elevating the support function to world-class standards.

Margaret Kinyanjui is an experienced risk and compliance analyst who, over the past six years, has built a track record of leading the implementation of effective risk and compliance frameworks within Kenya’s asset management and insurance industry. She is currently the Assistant Manager – Risk and Compliance at Jubilee Asset Management Limited.

She is a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), a designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) and holds a BSc. in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi.

Ruth Onsare

Project Manager

Ruth is a seasoned PMP®-certified Project Manager with over a decade of experience delivering complex IT implementation projects within the insurance and banking sectors. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Egerton University and currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management, Ruth combines technical insight with strategic execution.
