Ms. Barbara S Mulwana

Chairperson

Ms. Barbara S Mulwana is a Ugandan electrical engineer and computer scientist, who serves as the chairperson of the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association. In May 2017, she replaced Amos Nzeyi, who retired after two consecutive terms. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in the United States with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She also holds the Electronic Document Professional (EDP) certification, from the Kellogg School of Management. Barbara Mulwana worked as an Applications engineer at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, until 1991. In 1991, she joined Nice House of Plastics, a company her late father founded and owned, as head of sales and marketing. Later, she was promoted to executive director.[2] In May 2017, she was elected chairperson of Uganda Manufacturers’ Association, an industrial lobbying and advisory association that brings together over 600 Ugandan manufacturers and industries.

Zul Abdul

Director

Mr. Abdul joined the Board in 2014 and appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Board in 2020. At JHL, he has chaired the Board Nominating and HR Committee and the Board Audit and Compliance Committee. He is the current chairman of the Life and Health insurance subsidiaries in Kenya and he has also served on the Boards of the Health insurance subsidiaries in Uganda and Tanzania. He is the Chairman of the Jubilee Allianz general insurance companies in Mauritus and Burundi. Mr. Abdul is a seasoned businessman and has served in voluntary leadership positions in various organisations.

Ms. Christine Kawooya

Ms. Christine Kawooya is the Managing Director of Greenlight Financial Services and a Shareholder. She is a banker with extensive knowledge in strategic leadership, advisory services, business development, project management and a proven track record of product development and relationship building.

Mr. William Sekabembe

Director

William Sekabembe is a seasoned corporate executive with over 24 years of experience in the banking sector, specializing in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, business strategy, customer experience, channel development, risk management, and organizational redesign. Sekabembe has a proven track record of driving successful business transformations and optimizing revenue growth through strategic leadership and innovative product development.

Throughout his career, William has held key leadership positions in prominent financial institutions such as DFCU Bank, Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd, and ABSA Uganda where he spearheaded various initiatives to enhance customer engagement, expand market presence, and drive business performance. Noteworthy achievements include leading DFCU Bank into the top 5 banks in Uganda.

Additionally, Sekabembe holds advanced degrees in Business Administration and Economic Policy and Planning from renowned institutions like the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Makerere University, further solidifying his expertise in strategic management and financial leadership. He is also actively involved in board memberships and professional associations, demonstrating his commitment to industry excellence and community development.

Ms. Grace Ssali

Mrs. Grace Ssali Kiwanuka is Executive Director of the Uganda Healthcare Federation (UHF). UHF is an association of associations, membership umbrella body for the Uganda private health sector, championing private health sector interests through advocacy and program implementation. With over 10 years private health sector management experience, Grace Co-Chairs Uganda’s Public Private Partnerships in Health Technical Working Group, represents private sector on the Ministry of Health – Health Policy Advisory Committee, is part of the National Health Insurance Task Force and contributes to the National Quality in Health Coordination Committee.

Sam Ayesiga

Sam Ayesiga’s professional career spans over 20 years working, leading and transforming teams in a Big 4 Audit firm (Ernst & Young);  and the largest bank in Africa (Standard Bank Group). He has worked  in  11 countries accorss Sub Saharan Africa specializing in governance, external and internal audit, audit of IT systems, risk management and investment advisory.

Sam is also an independent board of director and Chair of Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) for Unifreight Cargo Handling Limited; one of the leading logistics companies in Uganda providing Cargo Clearance, Trucking and Terminal Management of a Car Freight Station (CFS) at Mombasa.

Sam is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Fellow of Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Governance in Enterprise Information Technology (CGEIT). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting (Oxford Brookes University) and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry (Makerere University Kampala). He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Circular Economy & Sustainability ( James Lind Institute, Switzerland) and Green Energy Finance Specialist (GEFS) from Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG in Germany.

Sam is a consultant in investment advisory specializing in development of business plans, debt and equity finance raising, financial modelling, business due diligences, feasibility studies, project finance proposal development, investment appraisals, business valuations and structuring potential investments. In the past decade, Sam  has successfully facilitated to financial close over 25 equity investments and debt finance/transactions in agro-processing, real estate, energy, manufacturing and mining with combined transaction value in excess of USD$500Million.

Mr. Metcalf was appointed to the Board in 2006. He has extensive international experience in the insurance industry and is currently the Head of Insurance for the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED).He is a Director on the Boards of the Company’s insurance subsidiaries. Before joining the Company, he was the Executive Chairman of the Allianz Group Insurance subsidiaries in Egypt.Mr. Metcalf is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a BA (Hons) in Banking Insurance & Finance from Sheffield Hallam University. Mr. Metcalf is a member of the Board Finance Committee, Board Audit & Compliance Committee, Board Nominating & HR committee and Board IT Committee.

Shaherose Jamal

Director

Shaherose joined the Jubilee Life Insurance Company Uganda Limited Board in 2014.

She qualified as a Solicitor in U.K and has two undergraduate degrees, in Law and also in Economics and Social sciences; and she completed her Legal Practice course from College of Law, Guilford, UK in 1994. After completing her professional training, she gained extensive experience in legal practice and her areas of expertise include Litigation, Employment law and Company law.

Shaherose brings diverse international perspective and insight to her work. With her multi disciplinary background, she has advised in private and family-owned businesses across a variety of industries.

At JLICU, she chairs the Board Remuneration and Human Resource Committee and is also a member of Board Risk and Compliance Committee and Board Audit Committee. Shaherose is also a dedicated advocate for sustainability, and environment.

Shaherose is a committed volunteer and has been a member of the leadership of the Ismaili Muslim community both in Uganda and the UK for the past 28 years and has served in various Institutional and religious committees.

Grace Jethro Kavuma

Mr. Kavuma is a seasoned accountant with vast experience having worked in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, West Africa and the UK. He was appointed to the Board in 2018. He holds a degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University and a Masters in Finance from Washington International University. Mr. Kavuma has worked in various sectors including Oil & Gas, Banking and Audit. He is also a board member in a number of institutions in Uganda. Mr. Kavuma is the Chairman of the Board Audit and Compliance Committee.

Mr. Varghese Thambi

Mr. Varghese Thambi is a seasoned Banker with over 47 years of experience in the Banking sector, both in India and Uganda. He was the Managing Director/CEO of Diamond Trust Bank Uganda from June 2007 to June 2024. Currently, he is the Director- Advisory with Grant Thornton Uganda.

Mr. Thambi was instrumental in setting up Bancassurance business in India’s IndusInd Bank in 2006 and later in DTB Uganda in 2017. Mr Thambi is a Graduate in Physics from University of Calicut, India and Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws from the National University of Law, Hyderabad. He is a Hon. Fellow of the Uganda Banking & Financial Services. He is also a Board member of Financial Technologies Services Providers’ Association Uganda (FITSPA)

Dr. Kansiime Mary Nyende

Dr. Kansiime Mary Nyende is the Director Professional Development at the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial services (UIBFS) from January 2024 to date, a directorate charged with delivering the institute’s Professional Development and Training strategy. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration and Management; specializing in financial management, Master of Management, and Post Graduate Diploma in project planning & management of Uganda Management Institute, Kampala.  She also holds a Bachelors in Adult and Community Education of Makerere University.

Mary is a dynamic executive and seasoned banker with over 15 years of expertise in risk and financial management, Wealth management, investment advisory, strategy development, research, consultancy and Financial inclusion.

Prior to joining UIBFS, she worked with dfcu bank for 9 years, where she held various senior positions including Head Pinnacle Banking, Head Transactional Banking and Head of sales, and contributed to the bank’s successful business growth and retention. She also worked with Housing Finance Bank for 5years in capacity of Ag. Head Corporate Banking, senior relationship Manager, and positively impacted the Bank’s growth.

Mary is the secretary of the Uganda Leasing Association, Director TAMKA investments Ltd and a Director at Mt. Seeta Junior School. She prides herself in nurturing young talent through mentoring and is fuelled by seeing those regarded as disadvantaged excel in both their personal and professional lives.

Dan Musiime

Chief Executive & Principal Officer

Dan Musiime is the CEO of Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda Limited. Dan is an insurance professional with 15+ years of senior leadership experience. Some of Dan’s major strengths include a deep understanding of the insurance industry, excellent communication, and team player, being a goal-oriented executive with a proven track record to achieve desired results, and strong decision-making skills.

Dan is an Advocate holding a Bachelor of Laws Degree (MUK) and a Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC). He also possesses an MBA (ESAMI) and is a Chartered Insurer with an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK). He is an Executive Committee Member of the Uganda Insurers Association and Chairman of the Medical Committee. Dan is passionate about teaching and has been a part-time lecturer at the Insurance Training College (ITC) for many years.

Dr. Amon Salaama

Chief Operations Officer

With over 9 years of experience in the medical insurance industry, Dr. Amon Salaama possesses extensive knowledge and skills in analytical techniques, medical claims, and underwriting. With excellent communication and analytical abilities, he excels in technical documentation, presentation, and cross-functional team coordination. Dr. Salaama currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer at Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda.

His previous roles as a Medical Claims Manager and Team Leader in Medical Services demonstrate his proficiency in claims review, client sensitization, and service provider management, while earlier experiences as a Medical Officer provided him with hands-on expertise in clinical medicine, surgical procedures, and strategic planning for clinic growth.

Vincent Ssematimba

Chief Finance Officer

Vincent Ssematimba ACCA, ICPAU is the CFO of Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda Limited. Vincent is an accomplished, professional, accountable, and organised Chief Finance Officer with 15+ year successful track record directing accounting and finance management functions.

He has proven professional competence and mastery of various financial functions. Aptitude for aligning departmental strategy with organisation strategy. Adept at budget forecasting and expenditure control. Skilled at financial data analysis, reporting, and risk management. Excellent ability leveraging communication skills to collaborate with diverse workforce, manage teams, and advise Senior Management.

Vincent holds a Bachelor of Science MUK (Statistics, Economics) and an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business (UK). He is a member of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – UK) and ICPAU (Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Uganda) and is a Chartered Accountant of both bodies. He is a green belt (Lean Six Sigma – Netherlands), Certified Process Modeler and a member of the Statistical Society of Uganda.

Dr. Maurice Ego

Dr. Maurice Ego is the Head of Claims at Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda Limited. Maurice is a Medical Doctor with 7+ years of both clinical and health care management experience. Prior to joining Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda Limited, Maurice worked with major players in the health care industry in Uganda and beyond; these include AAR Health Care and C-Care Uganda among others.

Maurice has a great understanding of the health care landscape in Uganda and is very passionate about access to quality health care for everyone. Maurice has a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from Makerere University. He is fully registered and licensed by The Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council. He is a member of The Uganda Medical Association.

John Katende

Irene Bagenda

Legal Manager and Company Secretary

Irene Bagenda is the Manager Legal & Company Secretary at Jubilee Life Insurance, bringing 14 years of experience in corporate governance, legal advisory, regulatory compliance, and risk management. She holds an LLB from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, complemented by certifications in compliance, corporate governance, risk management, and leadership.

In her current role, Irene provides legal advisory oversight, corporate governance guidance, and regulatory compliance support, ensuring that the company operates within robust legal and ethical frameworks. Camilla Mindru is a seasoned marketing and communications expert with over 15 years of experience in brand strategy, corporate communication, public relations, and business development. As the Manager of Marketing and Communications at Jubilee Life Insurance, she has significantly amplified brand visibility, forged strong media alliances, and spearheaded digital campaigns that effectively educate communities on the benefits of life insurance.

Previously, Camilla held key marketing roles at Equity Bank Uganda, Mac East Africa-Isuzu Uganda, and QG Group, where she led high-impact campaigns, cultivated stakeholder partnerships, and enhanced brand equity through innovative initiatives. Her robust expertise spans advertising, corporate PR, media relations, and integrated marketing strategies.

Camilla holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from Uganda Management Institute, a Diploma in Marketing Management from the Cyprus Institute of Marketing, London, and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Makerere University. She has also completed Leadership Training at Strathmore University and is currently finalizing her master’s research in Marketing Management at Uganda Management Institute.

Jean Mirembe

Actuarial Analyst

Jean Mirembe is an Actuarial Analyst at Jubilee Life Insurance, leveraging her expertise in actuarial science, data analysis, and risk assessment. She holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Actuarial Science from Strathmore University, where she consistently demonstrated academic excellence by earning a place on the Dean’s List from 2020 to 2024. Additionally, she has completed Actuarial Statistics (CS1) and Business Economics (CB2) from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK.

In her current role at Jubilee Life Insurance, Jean is responsible for analysing and cleaning data, conducting actuarial valuations, and assisting with IFRS 17 implementation. Her work on data science projects and risk assessments ensures that actuarial insights effectively drive business decisions.

Previously, Jean gained valuable experience at LUX Actuaries and Consultants as both an Actuarial Analyst and Intern, contributing to actuarial consulting projects, research on NHIF, NSSF, and banking, and supporting regulatory compliance efforts.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jean is actively engaged in leadership and community service. She served as the Public Relations Officer for the Actuarial Students Society at Strathmore University, participated in the Actuarial Society of Kenya Convention, and volunteered with the Uganda Red Cross Society, focusing on community outreach, COVID-19 vaccination, and public health initiatives.

Eva Nandudu

Risk Officer

Eva Nandudu is a seasoned risk professional at Jubilee Life Insurance with over 10 years of expertise in risk management, compliance, and financial risk assessment across the banking and insurance sectors. She has successfully developed robust risk frameworks, enhanced regulatory compliance, and led fraud prevention initiatives that strengthen operational resilience.

Holding a BSc in Actuarial Science from Makerere University, Eva is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business (ACCA). She has also received specialized training in Cyber Risk Mitigation, Operational Risk Management, and Crisis Leadership to further sharpen her expertise in risk governance.

In her current role as Risk Officer at Jubilee Life Insurance, Eva is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while ensuring regulatory compliance and bolstering internal risk controls. Her work is pivotal in fraud prevention, business continuity planning, and enterprise-wide risk assessments, aligning risk frameworks with industry best practices.

With extensive experience in the financial sector, Eva has held senior risk roles at Cairo Bank Uganda, PostBank Uganda, and I&M Bank Uganda. In these positions, she successfully implemented Basel II guidelines, improved regulatory ratings, and reduced fraud losses by 80%. Her comprehensive expertise spans regulatory compliance, financial risk assessment, fraud risk management, and data-driven risk modelling, alongside contributions to governance structures, risk awareness training, and stakeholder engagement.

Joseph Okello

Investment Analyst

Joseph Okello is a dynamic investment analyst with a proven track record in financial research, portfolio management, and market analysis. With hands-on experience in leading financial institutions across Uganda, he has developed a keen expertise in credit analysis, trade execution, and both macro and microeconomic research.

His career highlights include his current role as Investment Analyst at Jubilee Life Insurance Company (U) Limited, where he conducts in-depth financial due diligence, develops robust financial models, and continually monitors portfolio performance. Prior roles as Portfolio Officer/Research Analyst and Business/Investment Analyst have further honed his ability to interpret market trends and drive investment strategies with precision.

A committed lifelong learner, Joseph is advancing as a CFA Level Two candidate and has earned certifications in Financial Modelling and Business Intelligence. A graduate of Makerere University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, he continuously enhances his skill set through industry conferences and targeted professional training, positioning him as a valuable contributor in the financial services arena.

Specializing in data protection, privacy, risk management, audit and compliance, and anti-money laundering (AML), she enhances organizational value by ensuring regulatory compliance and mitigating financial risks. Immaculate has developed and implemented robust compliance frameworks and governance policies that drive operational efficiency.

Her expertise encompasses policy implementation, suspicious transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, and compliance training, positioning her as a leading expert in AML/CFT regulations. She has successfully led KYC programs and compliance audits, reinforcing financial security and institutional integrity. Immaculate holds a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management from Makerere University and is currently pursuing an MBA at UNICAF University, Zambia, along with certification as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
