Corporate Governance

The Jubilee Insurance Company of Uganda Limited was immensely honored to be recognized as the best corporate governance practitioner under the insurance companies’ category ahead of four other insurance companies that made it to the finalists’ list.

Jubilee Insurance was recognized at the stellar awards ceremony held on 17th May 2018 at Kampala Serena Hotel. These prestigious inaugural awards were organized by the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU) in concert with Grant Thornton and Summit Consulting Limited to recognize and award outstanding organizations that are at the vanguard of corporate governance excellence and to encourage others to emulate and excel. The awards are intended to shine a beacon of light on companies that uphold the best practices in corporate governance.

The Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda, therefore, launched the awards to recognize organizations with outstanding achievements in the governance, risk and compliance standards. “It is one thing to have the systems and structures in place but another to comply and adhere to these systems for the overall effective and efficient running of the organization,” said Christine Kawooya, CEO of The Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda.

Winning this award is testament to Jubilee’s strict compliance with the best practices of corporate governance overtime. Our core values that we strive to achieve and maintain everyday are integrity, passion, excellence and team work. With these imprinted at our hearts, we strive to provide solutions to protect the future of our customers as our mission.

The judging criteria was based on effective corporate governance processes such as effective leadership of the board, fairness, accountability and transparency in the organization, compliance with laws and regulations, financial integrity, business ethics, risk management, internal controls, corporate social responsibility practices resulting from effective strategy and successful execution.
