Breast Cancer Awareness
Jubilee Insurance reaches out to increase Breast Cancer Awareness and support to victims/survivors. Breast cancer in Uganda is the third commonest cancer in women coming only next to cancer of the cervix and Kaposi’s sarcoma. The incidence of breast cancer in Uganda has doubled from 11:100,000 in 1961 to 22: 100,000 in 1995. Unfortunately, the cases are often seen in late stages thus the outcome of treatment is inevitably unsatisfactory. The present day knowledge of this disease does not have any effective primary prevention. It is thus imperative that efforts should be made to detect the disease in its early stages. Jubilee Insurances plays a positive role in society as a corporate citizen with an aim of optimizing the positive aspects of the company’s operations. We believe in community investment activities and charitable work that supports capacity building and improvement of the quality of lives. Our CSR initiatives are aligned with our core business purpose without the basis of profit making or out ward recognition. Jubilee Insurance has consistently been involved in CSR initiates to impact on the shared values in society through economic development, good governance, stakeholder responsiveness and environmental improvement. In other words, our CSR programs are integrated, systemic approach by business that build rather than erode or destroy economic, social, human and natural capital. In support of the community who are affected by cancer, Jubilee decided to rally behind the National theme: ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ to carry out sensitization, offer free breast cancer checks and support cancer victims/survivors at the Uganda Cancer Institute- Mulago during the October month. Our aim was to increase the sensitization around breast cancer, screen/teach ladies how to self-exam their breast and also reach out with love, support to cancer victims/ patients/ survivors at the Uganda Cancer Institute with some donations. Jubilee Insurance donates to the cancer patients at the Uganda Cancer Institute on 26th October, 2018.
